The long way round: an autumn river walk

October 18, 2026

Saturday was cold and bright, so I took the long path along the river instead of the usual loop through the park. About nine kilometres, two thermoses of tea and one very curious heron.

The willows had mostly turned yellow, and the water was so still near the old footbridge that the reflections looked sharper than the trees themselves.

Next time: leave earlier, and bring gloves.
